Ghanaian Women – Meet Ghanaian Women on AfricanLove.com

In Ghana, traditional norms involving the acceptance of premarital sex for Ghanaian women differ from society to society. Among the Kwahu (a subgroup of the Akan), Ghanaian women were prohibited from engaging in sex before they were married, and certainly not before their first menstruation. In older times among the Akan, Ghanaian women were often killed when they engaged in sexual intercourse prior to puberty and initiation. In most societies in southern Ghana, since Ghanaian women were usually married shortly after their initiation, many entered marriage as virgins.

Among the communities in northern Ghana, the situation was different. For instance, among the Kokomba many Ghanaian women were already pregnant before marriage. The Tallensi explain that sex and marriage are different. The attitude towards pre-marital sex is changing in some parts of Ghana for Ghanaian women.  Social changes in Ghanaian education, urbanization, and economic systems have produced changes in sexual culture.  This change in sexual culture is also being seen in changes in dating patterns. Ghanaian women are turning to alternative means to connect with other culturally compatible Ghanaian singles. AfricanLove.com has become one of these favorite destinations.
